Parkside Players Profiles

I found Parkside in 2004 when I saw their wonderful production of A Breath of Spring and decided to join straight after. I came down one Thursday night and they had just started their panto of Aladdin and I got given the part of Princess Jasmine. Thus my first panto with the group. I enjoyed it so much I decided to stay much to the disappointment of everyone else! :) No we all love each other really! ;)
I have done many plays ranging from Bernard Shaw to Arthur Miller and have participated in three pantos. I have played a range of characters from a Male porter to a Big over the top fairy! (you should see the pictures! I should never be let out in public again!)

My favourite play is the one we just did where I played the slave Mary Warren in The Crucible, we also took this play to the Felixstowe Drama Festival and got a few awards for our production from the adjudicator.
I have also done backstage work, set builds and dress rehearsals which all have been a right laugh. I have been a stage manager for the group on several occasions and have enjoyed it immensely. Bossing people about and all that! LOL Using the lighting and sound and helping with props.

As well as being with Parkside I was on a two year course at Havering College studying the Performing Arts with some of my friends who have also joined Parkside. In September I will be leaving to go to Rose Bruford college for a Stage management course which is to last up to three years.

Parkside has a lovely family atmosphere, we all look out for each other and I have made great friendships which I cherish. Anyone thinking of joining the group should see the fun side of amateur dramatics but also the serous side of putting on a play. I have learnt so much from the group that I would recommend it to everyone who wants to have a go at acting, directing and any other area of theatre.

Thanks to everyone at Parkside for the fun and laughter over the years! Your all Stars! :) XXX
