Parkside Players Profiles

I first joined Parkside in 1992 after watching my wife Coral rehearse in “Stepping Out”. At first I thought that I could never get up on stage myself, having no experience in theatre at all. However, the Parkside members all started lobbying me to “have a go” and eventually I succumbed and landed a part in “The Secret Tent” playing “Ernie – the village idiot” – all I had to say was “I get my beer ere!” several times during the play, but that was it – I was hooked.

Since then I have been involved in numerous productions, from small walk on parts to leading roles. I had a very good time playing Aslan the Lion in our production of “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe” My annual outing as “Dame” in our Christmas pantomimes has also featured heavily during the past years.

I have appeared at both Hertford and Felixstowe Festivals performing various characters in plays such as: - “The Rainmaker”, “The Curious Savage”,” Blithe Spirit”, “Sylvia’s Wedding”, “Tiptoe through the Tombstones”, “The Exorcism”, “Straight and Narrow” “Rough Justice” “Jane Eyre” and more recently “The Crucible”. Although no major accolades I have been nominated for “Best Supporting Role” with Terry Huth for our parts as the two Spaniards in “The Odd Couple”.

I enjoy acting and also get a lot of satisfaction in applying my skills assisting in the design and building of the various sets required for our choice of plays.

I lead a busy life employed in the construction industry as a Projects Manager specialising in the renovation of listed and historical buildings mainly in London. My other interests are golf (on the rare occasions when I get time) and have during this last two years been very occupied extending and renovating our house in Hornchurch.
