Parkside Players Profiles | |

I joined
Parkside Players in January 2006 because I had always wanted to act and had
(most unjustly) been accused of being a drama queen on more than one occasion.
I hadn’t had much experience since my GCSE Drama exam, but my first
chance to tread the boards at the Parkside theatre was in ‘Jane Eyre’.
I played several characters including ‘Miss Abbott’ (a cold, heartless
carer of a young Jane), ‘Leah’ (the jolly, dozy maid) and my unforgettable
performance as 3rd school child on the right! I enjoyed the opportunity to
perform with Parkside at the Felixstowe Drama Festival in May 2006 and it
has since increased my desire to take on more challenging roles.
In July 2006 I was given the chance to perform as ‘Connie Wickstead’
in our production of ‘Habeas Corpus’. With less curves than an
iron board, a frustrated 33 year old, Connie was desperate for her idealistic
view of 'real’ love and a bigger chest in the middle of sixties suburbia.
It was a great role and I had some fantastic lines and some 'rousing' scenes
to perform.
Since then I have assisted Carol Kathro in ‘When We Are Married’,
helped backstage and with publicity… as well as attend many birthday
parties and Parkside social events! It’s been a busy 14 months but great
fun every time.
I’m very excited about playing Jo in ‘Little Women’ and
have always loved the story. But Christopher Columbus I just hope I remember
my lines!
